Activities
- Established in 1984, the ACAPS aims to promote research in the fields of sport, physical activities and more broadly of human movement.
- The ACAPS gathers researchers, lecturers, professors, students, engineers, technicians, trainers, practitioners and all the persons interested by these areas
- Since 1987, the ACAPS edits the scientific journal Movement and Sport Sciences and organizes its biennial international congress with over 440 participants during the fall season.
- The ACAPS also regularly develops partnerships with the socio-economic world and learned French or foreign societies interested in the sport sciences.
Movement and Sport Sciences
- The ACAPS-driven journal Movement and Sport Sciences has been firstly established in 1987, by Professor Jacques Van Hoecke. This multidisciplinary journal publishes fundamental, applied and technological researches on human movement, physical activities and sports.
- The publication manager of the journal is currently Nicolas Benguigui (Caen University, France). Four section editors manage publications in Life and Health Sciences (Valérie Bougault, university of Nice, and Sidney Grosprêtre, university of Franche-Comté), Psychology and Human Sciences (Sandrine Isoard-Gautheur, University Grenoble Alpes), Neurosciences and Motor Control (Florent Lebon, University of Burgundy France) and Social Sciences (Pierre-Olaf Schut, Gustave Eiffel University – Marne-la-Vallée and Nicolas Scelles, Manchester Metropolitan University).
The ACAPS Biennial International Congress
The ACAPS congress happens during the fall season every two years. The previous cities in which the congress happened were:

Our Website
- It was created in 1997 by François-Xavier Li (Birmingham University, UK).
- Thereafter, Robin Candau and Grégory Ninot (Montpellier University, France) (1997-1999), Guillaume Millet (St Etienne University, France) (2001-2005), Eric Watelain (Valenciennes University, France), (2005-2009), Stéphane Perrey (Montpellier University, France) (2009-2011) and Nicolas Souchon (Paris Ouest University, France) (since 2011) administered the website.
The ACAPS Letter
- A first version of the letter was disseminated in 1996.
- In December 2001, on the initiative of Guillaume Millet (Saint-Étienne University, France), the ACAPS produced regularly its diffusion letter (LLA). More than 60 issues have been published, which are available on the website, in the archives heading.
